Lonesome Travels
Set out each time, early morning shines
Aim for the South, where it calls my name
I’m a traveling wanderer, lost in a maze
Caught out on this highway, reflecting on pain
I’m a lonesome traveler, who’s wheels sream my name
I’ve been out here running, never get that far
Trees that pass me, see straight to my buried scars
Wheels burn beneath me, can only take me so far
Lost and out of place, how much longer will it last
Put 20K miles on my lonesome bones each year
Traveling down these lonesome roads
Only one woman I’ll do that for
And she’s still too young to know
Roads I’ve traveled this far in my life
Twists and turns with blind cliffs all around
How I’ve made it thus far still baffles me
Never slowing down at the punches
Still rolling on for the next day
These buses are always full
Yet next to me constantly empty
Oh how those blues sneak up on you
One moment doing fine
While the next the hearts on fire
Its a lonesome road for the lonesome traveler
Forced to walk it with heavy mind
Holes carved in his heart
Each mile is another stitch of painful reminder
That this road is dark and empty
For the traveler that’s got the blues
